Here’s something you may be surprised to hear, No matter what you’re earning at the moment, you can earn probably a lot more, because when you’re working on the Internet, a six figure income is a very reachable realistic figure and believe it or not, seven figure incomes are also possible, you just have to have the knowledge and take the right actions to get there.

The thing is when you’re working online, you need to get serious about making money plus you need to treat your online stuff as a business and really work at it. Too many folks just treat IM as a hobby instead of getting out there and treating it as a business.

Thousands of folks still think  things will fall into place” and they’ll be earning a lot of money just by throwing a website up, Sorry guys this just doesn’t happen especially in today’s Internet marketing where millions of websites get thrown up literally every day. I’ve said it before on this blog, ‘Build it and they will come’ is a phrase that belongs in the movies not on the net…

Things just don’t fall into place on their own when you’re involved in Internet Marketing, the clue is in the phrase Internet marketing business, You’ve got to have a business plan for earning money online just as you would with a bricks and mortar business. Focusing on the money you want to earn and then working your plan for earning that cash it is the surest way to make a decent living online.

Have annual and daily money goals because if you want to earn $100,000 in the next 12 months you need to earn $2,000 this week. It’s simple maths even I can work out! If you work 5 days a week, you need to earn $400 today. If you miss the mark today, you need to make up for it tomorrow. If that’s too high a goal, then just adjust it downwards a tad until it becomes achievable for you in your own set of circumstances. Don’t forget to readjust upwards though as soon as you can.

Try a goal of $50 a day for the next month, and $100 a day for the month after that. Your goals need to be both achievable and a stretch for you. By stretching and meeting those goals, you’ll quickly discover how easy it is to earn as much as you set your mind and your efforts to. Honestly, you can do it.

Value your time, I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again. If you’re earning $100,000 a year and you’re working 40 hours per week, then your time is worth a minimum of $50 per hour. So, are you performing $50 an hour work? Or are you mowing the lawn or browsing Facebook when you should be working on your business? Just as you’ll never get your time to live again, you’ll also never get a second chance to use all of your time wisely. Before you decide to switch the telly on or play online games etc ask yourself if this the wisest use of your time? Does this justify my being worth $50 an hour?” If the answer is no, then you should be doing something else and living up to your potential.

Get more done in less time. Find your most productive times and refuse to do anything during those times other than work. For example, if your best work time is 6 am until noon, then lock your door, turn off the phone, block your email and do nothing but work, it definitely works for me, and since I’ve adopted this method I’ve found I’m a lot more productive in less time. (Crazy but true).

Develop habits to get more done in less time. For example, lumping similar activities together can be a tremendous time saver, I write my blog every few days, but I don’t just write one post, I write several and queue them up. I spend a full day writing blog posts once a week, though I must confess I do slip the odd extra one in there if I have something to say. This works for me because I can then write enough for a couple of weeks and schedule them to appear every couple of days. Makes me look productive 🙂 I also get a chance to do other stuff to my blog on those days as well titivating it.
Another day I may spend on email marketing. I have JV launches planned a couple of months at least in advance, so I may spend the day writing emails to promote them and getting them scheduled. Honestly doing stuff like this has really shortened my day and made me a lot more productive.

Eliminate any time wasters robbing you of your work time. For example, don’t meet a client in person if a phone call/skype etc will work just as well. One of the problems I find when working at home is my friends think it’s great to just pop in for coffee etc. Whilst I love seeing them it detracts from my work day. My daughter is another example, I’m a ready made baby sitter for my grandkids, Obviously I love seeing them but sometimes I have to put my foot down and say I’m working, I’ll see you when I finish at 3pm or whatever, emergencies excepted of course but I don’t find my dearest only child’s desire to go to the gym an emergency lol.

Anything that can be outsourced should be outsourced, I’m a huge believer in outsourcing. whether it’s building websites, posting in forums, writing copy, sending tweets, whatever. The more you can work ON your business instead of IN your business, the more you’ll be able to earn. It’s better to harness 1% of 100 people’s talents and energies than 100% of your own. You get the best of both worlds when you outsource because you can harness both and much more. I outsource a great deal of my work!

Avoid paralysis analysis. Two of the biggest things that stop online marketers is being pulled in too many directions at once, or no direction at all. If you’ve got 15 different ideas on what to do next then the odds are you’ll probably do nothing at all. And if you’re afraid to take the next step – whatever it might be – you’ll suffer the same fate. That’s why you need a plan – ONE plan –  then you need to work that plan. Forge ahead, step by step, small bite sized pieces and don’t worry about getting everything right, because frankly, you won’t. And it doesn’t even really matter that you won’t get everything just right. Think about it, the best batters in baseball only get hits a third of the time. Odds are your averages will be better than that, but it just doesn’t matter so long as you know where the ball is and you keep swinging at it.

Charge more for your product, it drives me crazy when folks undervalue what they are selling. A $7 info product can often just as easily sell for $17 or $27, for some reason many vendors are afraid to charge more for their products. Selling at a reduced rate on a dimesale is fine, but make sure you do it at a decent price. Add in some videos and you can charge $47. Make it a complete course and you can get $97 or more. Remember, you don’t need as many sales when you charge more to make more money. Experiment with your pricing and you might be surprised at how well it works out.

Repurpose your content, there’s nothing to say you can’t use your content over and over. If you’ve got a bunch of great blog posts, consider bundling them into an ebook. If you’ve got some awesome interviews with experts, get them transcribed and use segments as articles or bundle them into a course. The more use you get out of the content you already have, the more you can earn.

I read somewhere that Dan Kennedy teaches the more specialized you are, the more you will earn. For instance, a marketer teaching brick and mortar businesses how to market online will not earn as much as another marketer teaching dentists or chiropractors how to get new clients from online marketing, and so forth. If you doubt this works then think of doctors. General practitioners don’t earn as much as specialist doctors do they? The higher up the specialty ladder they go, the more they earn!

Love your customers, be good to them and treat them right. If you do just this one small thing they will love you back and be rabid followers of yours. Repeat business is the easiest business to get, you just have to treat your customers like royalty and cater to their needs. Provide excellent customer service and by all means ask them to upgrade or purchase your next product. Don’t be too distant from them. My customers love it when I answer them personally.

Don’t pimp yourself out. There are a ton of marketer’s out there who will sell or affiliate for anything they come across if they think it will bring them a few bucks. Treat your list with respect, they hate it if they think you’re using them as your personal ATM. There’s nothing wrong of course with promoting products to your list, after all it’s part of the bread and butter of your business. Do it with dignity, let them see you respect them and you’ll find they come to trust what you say and recommend.

Ok that’s it from me on this subject, I’d love to hear what you have to think about it…
