You know just because you can’t do something doesn’t mean you cant have it, this is a truth I’ve learned well over the past few years whilst being in IM.

I’ve heard so many people  say they couldn’t possibly sell anything online or they don’t have the time to develop an idea they’ve had etc etc and my answer to that is balderdash. (Well it would really be a bit more naughty than that, but I’m trying to be a bit posh)…

I was at a marketing summit last year and one of the speakers gave me a really cool idea about a membership site to create. Before he had finished speaking, I’d toddled off to Namecheap and registered a domain plus asked my techie chap to do all the necessary stuff to throw up my membership software on my brand new domain. (It was up and running before the chap had finished his session) and within half an hour it was all ready to put some content on.

I had one problem though, there was absolutely no way on this earth that I was going to be able to do all the stuff needed to get this new website up and running because I was far too busy with other projects.

Luckily stuff like that has never really fazed me because what I simply do when I can’t do something for myself is get someone else to do it, I’m a big believer in outsourcing stuff I can’t or don’t want to do for myself..

So I asked my graphics guy Karl Warren to design me  some of his cool graphics, visited the warrior forum to see if they had a WSO for someone to write a cheap sales page (they had), and asked some of my best article writers to start writing me some articles on some of the subjects I wanted to sell.

By the end of the day, I’d got it all organised. (Don’t forget I was at a seminar as well), and by the end of the week I had a new membership site up and running bringing me in some lovely recurring income.

Point of the story? don’t let lack of time, skill or any other excuse put you off accomplishing something because it can nearly always be done by outsourcing to other people and often for pennies on the dollar…

Great post Kim, but I think the problem most of us newbies have is where do you find people who you can trust and rely on to do a good job for you? You clearly had a good network of people, but I imagine it took a while to develop the relationships. I will be calling on you for some recommendations when I need something doing:-)

      Hi Kim,

What a fantastic post. Outsourcing can be so helpful. I worked on some iPhone apps last year and when I came to some really advanced technical difficulties, I started to outsource them and kept the projects rolling.

One of the biggest challenges I had was finding offshore developers who where trustworthy and not try and milk the project for more money. Well maybe I’ll make a post on that!

FYI I really enjoy reading your blog and posts! They are very inspirational.

Thank you Dan I appreciate your words.

I’ve set up many blogs in the past, but I can honestly say I’ve never enjoyed writing one as much as I have this one 🙂
